Defying the Old Boys Club

The one politician who has consistently yet positively defied the "old boys club" mentality in performing his professional or political tasks and responsibilities is Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson. Unfortunately, however, many among his peers now or professional colleagues in the past have failed to appreciate the impact of his behavior toward good governance.

MANUEL VILLAR JR. joins the mixed ranks of senatorial predecessors Ramon Diokno, Jose Avelino, and Sergio Osmena Jr. who had to face colleagues to answer charges that they had violated laws and government ethics to an extent that warranted suspension or expulsion from Congress.

It is also the time when we are called to reflect on our lives; in the hope that we may realize our faults, repent with all our hearts, and try to live better lives, as we anticipate the glory of Easter.
